Time for a cold one. Are the bars even open where you are? The TX governor left it up to the counties to decide, and our county opted to keep bars closed. Our numbers are looking pretty good, and they want them to stay that way.
Got any big plans for the weekend? My twin boys turn 15 tomorrow. No party planned, but we’re getting a bunch of brisket take out. They’ll probably spend the day playing online games with their friends, just like pretty much every other Saturday. I’m grilling steaks tonight. Other than that, just chilling. I do need to clean the garage, though, so I’ll probably work on that. Weather will be nice.
Y’all be safe, and have a great weekend.

Bars are open, breweries are open. I’ve WAAAAAAAAY scaled back drinking though.
No big plans.. dropped off the ST for new tires this morning and the dealer won’t touch my rims for fear of damaging them...so now I gotta go pick it back up.

Weekend has already begun here! Just had home grown boiled eggs with home made sourdough bread. Today’s plan is to finish the new garden water connections to the vege garden, chook shed and orchard. Tomorrow was supposed to be a 50km social bike ride from and back to a pub in a nearby town but now it appears we are getting some rain and perhaps storms tomorrow so I fear that it might be cancelled...

Bars are open to some extent. I think minimal capacity, seating only, and you have to have a mask on if you get up? I have no desire to go in to a bar at this point in time. I did go to a couple breweries but it was off days and we sat outside away from people.
The local section of river that we kayak got shut off the other day (dam release for irrigation) so I may go walk that to
pick up trash and find people’s lost stuff if nothing else comes up

Bars are open but they have to close at 11:00pm. I don’t quite get that one, but whatever. You also can’t sit at the bar and no games like pool are allowed. It doesn’t really affect me, though, as I don’t frequent bars too often. I do have a nicely stocked bar here in the house so I’m good staying home.

Everything’s up and running down here, things are the mostly back to the way they were before Covid was even a word. I’m still working weekends though, so other than going out for a burger with the old lady and taking some pictures of the retro styled joint, I don’t have much planned for the evening.

50 km....that’s.... (counts on fingers)....30 miles! Damn. I rode 5 miles this morning. But I haven’t been on my bike in more than six months. I used to do 10 miles a day. I’ll be back to that soon. I’ve gotten fat(t er) and my BP is going back up. Time to work out the old ticker.

They threw open the bars back in July and the cases and hospitalizations skyrocketed. So they’re doing it again because that makes sense. I think they are limited to 75% capacity. We ate in a restaurant last weekend for the first time in six months. There were two other people, so no big deal. I’m not much for bars as it is. I’d rather sit home and do my drinking. It’s safer.

Drinking at home is safer in many ways.

My plan was to start a bit earlier and rack up 30 km exploring some other roads before the rest of the mob kicked off.

That’s a lot of clicks. Sounds good, though. I’m still working my way through this year’s TDF (don’t tell me who won). Those guys are nuts. It’s impressive to watch, and the scenery of France is fantastic.

I’ll be installing lowering springs and new shocks on a buddy’s G37. I was hoping we would have a nice, cool weekend. But it looks like I’ll be wrenching in 90 degree heat again. Oh well!

TBH, I don’t even know if the bars around here are open. They might be, but I’d rather do my drinking at home. I created something weird that I’m sipping on now, a clean-out-the-cupboard special consisting of iced tea, raspberry syrup and vodka. It gets the job done...

Just finished making pizza. Currently in the oven cooking.
Tomorrow I'm hoping to replace the disc brake pad clips on the van, and put the winter tires on. I was an idiot when I installed the brakes, and used the wrong sized clips. Thought I did everything right, so threw out all the leftover bits - including the right sized clips. Managed to track down a set of clips, so I now get the pleasure of doing it again.

Bars here (Massachusetts) are closed. They are part of our phase 4 reopening, which is “not until there’s wide vaccine availability”, and I’ve seen surprisingly little pushback on that.

My mom lives in NH, and it seems like the Northeast is much more open to virus restrictions than the rest of the country.

This is how the cases are trending in TX as a whole. Perfect time to open the bars, right? That rise in cases is before the bars were opened. I wonder how long it will take to get back to the July numbers.

Yep, and I think it’s for the best, though it does make planning a gettogether with friends in the mountains this winter significantly more difficult since who knows when places will even allow everyone to go. Vermont currently has really strict travel restrictions (though apparently not heavily enforced), while New Hampshire and Maine are a bit easier for me, but still want people coming from other states where I have friends to quarantine . Pennsylvania is probably the easiest right now, but of course that makes travel less desirable since I’d rather they were keeping out people from places where the coronavirus is poorly controlled.

Bars and clubs still closed. Alcohol can only be served with a food.
Indoor dining still limited to 50%.
Breweries an d wineries can have outdoor seating, spaced out. I guess on average they’re reporting record sales.
Have to split some wood in the morning. Went and picked up a bunch of single craft beers for a Social distance firepit tasting. Also begining to plan my holloween costume/decoration. Go Big or go home.

No real plans for the weekend. Today was our first day back at work after my husband got sick this week with flu-like symptoms forcing us to quarantine. He got tested for Covid right away on Monday, and we got the results yesterday (negative). Tonight I’m hanging out on the back porch with a cold beer and a cigar until he gets off work. Fortunately I got paid to sit at home, don’t know if he did. I happened to have gotten my flu shot the day before, and I haven’t had any symptoms at all.
I guess I should clean out my truck tomorrow. I’ve been neglecting it for a while.

Bexar county has them open, but I have no idea what the actual regs are, because they’re so different each place, basically no one does all of them they just do a couple for appearances.
Good enough for government work :)
Edit: It also makes me laugh about people going off about the guberment not putting in more regulations, as if people are actually going to follow them. I think a big problem today is people more or less view the world through reports and excel spreadsheets like middle managers, instead how things actually work.

Bars in Williamson and Hays are getting ready for an influx of Travis people coming to their bars. How bad do you need to drink? I get the whole social aspect of it, but I’ve made a habit of staying off I-35, and I will continue to do so.

Only been a couple times since the whole corona thing happened. I don’t recall the exact numbers, but the rates for hospitalization and deaths have been very low for quite a while now .

I smoked for many years. I was a one-a-day smoker for a long time, but got to two or three towards the end. I had one a few weeks ago, and it made me feel bad. But I still love the process. And when I finally get to go back to the airport to take pictures again, I will definitely take a stick with me.

Not even half of what it was in July. The thing with COVID is it spreads like the flu. We’re all going to get it eventually unless we all literally live in bubbles for the rest of our lives. Originally it was just flatten the curve enough to not overwhelm the medical system (which basically never happened anywhere besides LA and NY) but then the media turned it into the plague were any single person getting it is a failure of the government and society.
It’s a disease, it’s gonna have bad effects and can’t completely be gotten rid of, we’ve already mitigated it a good deal and it’s time to go back to normal (barring LA and NY, but I don’t know or care about what they need to do). We don’t wear masks and do all this social distancing stuff for the regular flu, but when a slightly worse version comes along, we’re suppose to do all this crap indefinitely until there’s a total cure for it.
I had no problem with the original lock downs and measures, but at this point it’s just an abuse of power and I honestly wish those guys in Michigan who tried to kidnap their governor would’ve gotten away with it.
Edit: and if you look, it’s going up at a much slower rate than it was in late June when it initially hit.
Edi t2 : And even fatalities from it are still going down.

At some point I think I’m going to have to cut way back. I’ve gotten to the point where I can have 3 or 4 a day and not flinch. And 99% of the cigars I smoke are double toros, which means 6x60.

Dang. My daily smoke was a Punch London Club maduro, which is 5x40. It is the perfect 45-minute smoke.

My go-to is a Brick House Mighty Mighty Maduro, which is a 6x60. It takes about an hour and a half to smoke it. They’re so good, though.
